The film was met with mixed reviews from critics. Some praised the film for its humor, gore, and cleverly crafted story line; others felt that it didn’t measure up to its previous installments. However, most reviewers agreed that fans of horror films will enjoy watching this movie.

The acting performances were also generally praised for their quality. Campbell returned for her fourth time as Sidney Prescott, and Courteney Cox reprised her role as Gale Weathers-Riley for the fourth time as well.
